Imports & Exports

Since 2002, Photo Finish Horse Identification has been responsible for all Kentucky exports for the Alex Nichols Agency in New York City, an international transport company that ships horses around the world. Photo Finish Horse Identification is responsible for all the Pre-Export Quarantine (PEQ) requirements and we coordinate with the USDA on a regular basis.

Photo Finish will set up quarantines, prepare farms for PEQ, and coordinate with multiple veterinary practices to complete blood work, testing and vaccinations required for shipment.  We submit all documents required by the Jockey Club for Foreign Registration and Export Documentation.  Upon shipment, Photo Finish ensures that the proper passport and documentation, including health certificates, ID sheet, and export documents for your registry,  travels safely with the horse.

Many clients come into the United States to purchase and export from the Thoroughbred Sales. Our President and CEO, Lynn Fenton, is responsible for setting up the quarantines for these clients, and  making sure all USDA requirements are met for transport to the selected country. We take responsibility for client horses the minute they are purchased from the sales ring through to the transport, care and quarantine of those horses until they arrive in their respective countries.

Photo finish staff have worked closely with other countries' veterinary officials that come to the States to monitor the quarantines, such as officials from China who oversee the quarantines and shipping process for large shipments of 50-150 horses at a time. Lynn has also worked with the USDA in helping to modify treaties between some countries in refining the PEQ requirements and the testing.

Photo Finish Horse Identification has experience with nearly every country's IREGS and has prepared health certificates for most countries, whether that be permanent, temporary or performance entry/re-entry.  We will prepare and document the importation and exportation of foals, yearlings, mares, and stallions of all breeds and performance types.
